Pleasant Surprises

Today a package I was waiting for arrived with some paints and Strahkov I got for free with some of the 'cashback' money I earned from Maelstrom games, the paints were 3 bottles of Vallejo paint, one of which being a Matt Varnish. I really wanted this to see what it would look like on top of the Army Painter Quickshade I have on some Grey Knight models that I painted up.. and it looks great, it takes a tonne of the shine off.

Which is exactly what I wanted. I was hoping it would work but, I wasn't expecting anything. So now I know it works I'll be painting up my Assault Kommandos, and dippping them to see how they turn out. One at first, then if it looks the way I want it too, I'll be doing the lot like that.

I've got the paints out and a movie qued up, and the brushes at the ready, the next update will be with hopefully good news about the way the tester comes out.

Paint it Damn it!

I really need to clean house and sit down and make myself a painting station so I can get these mini's all painted. I have to get this done, I am not going to let this army be half painted.

I REFUSE.

With that being said I'm getting on with that today, and hopefully might have something painted, if not tonight, tomorrow.

Learning the Ropes

Well over the weekend I got to play my first real games of Warmachine, 4 different games, getting used to the rules, and learning what does and doesn't work, and picking up on how it all makes things happen.

No wins. XD Well that was to be expected, I was using Sorcha 2x Warjacks and some Kommandos, two words. NO SYNERGY. Trying to run a buffer/combat caster with 2 warjacks doesn't seem to work for me. I want more troops for her. Alot more, and a Behemoth.. or Beast 09. Though I probably would have done better with the 2 Warjacks if I was paying more attention to what I was doing with the focus, I was very distracted with what I was trying to do with the day.. also I found out certain attacks woulfn't have hit her, also if I had her up hiding behind some things other attacks wouldn't have hit either.

But as I said learning it all as we go along. I plan to read more of the rules and learn them. I found out after the fact that the AOE blasts from morters and such once it hits the ground, auto hits what's under it. Sprays need to roll to hit, but AoE's don't (other than the initial roll to hit.)

Next time I'll be a bit more together, I'll also try the Kommando's with Strahkov. Untill next weekend, I'll be reading up on rules, then I'll look into posting up a battle report. (Also planning on getting some new dice as mine failed me all weekend.. well not totally but.. I wasted all my sixes on a series of boxcars that didn't do more than kill normal troops.)

Kommando Assault + Winterguard TBA.

Wow.. I am still waiting on my main order, and while I was, I ordered a tub of snow flock, and squad of Assault Kommando's(6) and a Flamer(1) for them, you know because I was going to be paying the same for shipping anyway :p ... and they arrived already.. before I got any of the other units..

Oh well looks like I'll run Sorcha with Kommandos and some warjacks to play my first games then..

Plus I get to paint up a flame thrower, damn I love me my flame throwers.

Also I got to see some Winterguard in action today... they are now on top of my 'MUST HAVE NOW' list for my Khador army. Hell 2 squads even... damn.. they seriously are not what I expected.. I mean.. EVERY modle gets an area effect flamethrower style blast attack.. ALL of them.. MADNESS I SAY MADNESS. So as soon as I get a little extra cash, I'll be grabbing me a full squad of Winterguard + Winterguard Command + Kovnik Joe. The insane combo effect these guys have are just too freaking cool.

I also have a new respect for Cav in Warmahordes. So they a squad of Uhlans are going to be added to the bottom of the 'List'.

First things First.

I got my order from Privateer Press, giving me my rule book, and Khador starter box.

Damn these things are pretty. they are so much fun to build too.

Then I sat down and got to paint one of the warjacks.

I will post pictures of the finished Jack soon, but I really had a fun time painting it. The colours and style really worked well on it, and now I have a set colour scheme it's going to make painting the other warjacks much easier, now I just need to get the colour scheme to work on the rest of the army.

Ideas and plots

I am plotting on what my next purchases will be for my troops, warjacks, and solo's.

I am thinking well first and foremost,

Strahkov,
Kommandos Unit,
Pikemen Unit,
Man-O-War Shock Troopers/Bombadeers,
Winterguard Unit,
Beast 09,
Behemoth,
Kodiak.

That is all I can think of for Khador.

I really want a Legion of Everblight set, but I want to get my Khador army finished first.
